Outfit: My B-day Dress

On the 25th of July I turned 26! I celebrated my birthday in France with Marnix and my dad's youngest brother with his family. I had such a wonderfully relaxed (and warm I might add) day. My husband gave me the prettiest presents, which I'll be showing soon. This is what I wore on my birthday... a gorgeous seersucker dress from the early forties, made in The Dutch East Indies. What dot you think of this unique dress (which I had altered in order to fit into it... there was no closure in the dress so I didn't fit over my upper body at first.. it does now with a brand new zipper)?

Dress: 40s vintage (Marktplaats)
Flower: Very Cherry
Sunnies: fleamarket
Bag: fleamarket
Sandals: Zara

  2. What a lovely dress! Very pretty.

As an aside: it's altered, not alternated. That means something different altogether ;)

  4. It's a work of fashion art! I adore the texture that the seersucker delivers - it's so unexpected with a floral, yet works so tremendously well one can't help but wonder why this combo hasn't been more commonplace throughout time.

    1. That would have been swell indeed.... I love seersucker as well, it's is just so comfortable to wear since the wrinkly textures prevents the fabric from clinging onto your skin. And of course it's easier to wash and in no need for ironing haha...

  5. My oh my what a lovely birthday dress! I love the print - it's so elegant but not dated! I think some 80s prints look dated but a good vintage always looks elegant! I adore how figure hugging it is! Gosh this 40s number is making my heart goes pitter-patter!!

  7. Happy belated birthday! That dress is gorgeous! Ha, so funny it didn't have closures, it looks so good being fitted through the waist. Weird.
